Photos & video: Maddie & Tae talk empowerment, perform on "Today" show

As previously reported, Oklahoma-Texas country duo Maddie & Tae celebrated the release of their full-length debut album "Start Here" with a performance this morning on "Today":

The singer-songwriters recalled that last year "Today" helped launch their success by spotlighting their breakout hit "Girl in a Country Song." The savvy duo suggested making their stop at the NBC morning show an annual event.

"We wrote a song that was so bold and said something that no one wanted to say, so I feel like the fans really, really appreciated that and were waiting for something like that. So, we"re glad that we get to be the torch for women empowerment," Ada native Tae Dye said on the show.

Her songwriting and music-making partner Maddie Marlow, of Sugar Land, Texas, said the songs on "Start Here" are based on their own lives and are basically are in sequential order.
