As tennis stars Marin Cilic and Serena Williams prepare to defend their U.S. Open titles on Monday (with Williams on track to complete a calendar-year Grand Slam by winning all four major tournaments within 12 months), Googles logo is already engaged in a tense tennis battle with its g doing battle with one of the o twins on Mondays Doodle.

The iconic tournament at New York Citys Flushing Meadows is the seasons final Grand Slam after the Australian Open, the French Open and Wimbledon, and Google is celebrating the possibility of a historic moment at Arthur Ashe stadium should Williams become the first woman to win all four consecutively since Steffi Graf in 1988.

Fortunately, as the company says, Serena cant hit a through-body lob like todays o.

"US Tennis Open Results" Google Logo Delivers Search For Start Of Today"s US ...

Todays Google logo marks the first day of the 37th US Open tournament. Taking place at the Arthur Ashe Stadium in Flushing, New York, the tennis tournament starts today and will run through September 13.

The animated Doodle returns a search for US tennis Open results and is posted on a limited number of Googles home pages outside the US.

We thought wed imagine what our letters would look like playing tennis, says Googles Doodle blog. Fortunately, Serena Williams cant hit a through-body lob like todays O, but she could be the first woman to win a Grand Slam since Poison had a number-one single.

Today, Serena Williams enters the tournament having won this years Australia Open, French Open and Wimbledon. Steffi Graf was the last player to achieve the honor, winning a Grand Slam in 1988.
