CBS Expanding Streaming Of NFL Schedule

CBS will be expanding its streaming of NFL On CBS games this coming season. CBS will be streamingtwo regular season games, four playoff games, and Super Bowl 50 from Levis Stadium in Santa Clara, Calif. According to CBSs press release today,

Streaming coverage will be available on laptops, desktops and tablets at CBSSports.com and on televisions through select Connected TV devices, including Xbox One, Apple TV, Chromecast, and Roku players and Roku TV models. All of the NFL ON CBS games that will be streamed live will be available online and on OTT devices for free with no authentication required.

The streaming coverage will begin with the national broadcast of the Miami/New York Jets game in London, on October 4. That game will also be the first time a regular season NFL ON CBS game is streamed live.CBS Sports will also stream Carolina-Dallas on November 26, which will be the first live streamCBS Sports broadcast of a Thanksgiving Day game

CBS will once again stream all AFC Playoff games, including the Wild Card game, Divisional and Championship games. According to JefferyGerttula, Senior Vice President and General Manager of CBS Sports Digital:

Were very excited to offer more NFL ON CBS streaming coverage across more digital platforms than ever before. All NFL fans will have access through their computers, tablets and now Connected TVs to two regular season games for the first time in addition to all of the AFC playoff action, culminating with a truly historic Super Bowl.

Streaming coverage will also be available to Verizon customers (Yay, me!!) on phones through NFL Mobile. CBS said additional details of the streaming coverage for each game will be announced at a later date.

This seems to be part of the recent movement away from cable and dish, and towards streaming. I feel like it wont be long before we are able to pick and choose what channels we want, without being tied to a package of 500-600 worthless channels.
