Blue Bell Creameries unveiled another ice cream flavor slated for the brand"s return on Monday, and promised more to follow.
The Texas-based company has announced a flavor each day as it gears up for the Aug. 31 relaunch. This one will look familiar, based on those already announced this week.
In an Instagram post, Blue Bell said The Great Divide - a combination of Homemade Vanilla and Dutch Chocolate in one carton, will be available.
Blue Bell announced the return of its vanilla and chocolate brands on Monday and Tuesday this week. Cookies"n Cream is the other flavor, announced yesterday.
The choice wasn"t universally lauded. On the Instagram post, for example, fans began lobbying for their own personal favorites.
A follower dubbed joshwager stated, "So you picked a flavor that is a combination of two flavors you already released? Lame."
"Praline and cream please," pleaded mariey555574, while pepsm12 wanted strawberry. Only Blackberry Cobbler would please someone called lonestarmama2.
Blue Bell asked fans to be patient.
"We hope you like our starting line-up we"ve unveiled this week," Blue Bell announced. "If you haven"t seen your favorite yet, don"t worry because there are still more flavors to come!"
Blue Bell has continued to use a social media strategy of making announcements of new developments as the company inches back from a months-long production shutdown following a listeria outbreak. This strategy is one of the reasons some analysts expect the company to bounce back strongly after spending months off the shelves.
But fans have used the time waiting to create social media memes, showing they are more than ready for the return of their favorite frozen treats.
The company"s Sylacauga plant is currently the only Blue Bell plant operating, as plants in Texas and Oklahoma continue cleaning and training programs. They have been closed since production shut down in April. Sylacauga resumed production in July after consultation and an agreement with state health officials.
The first of the five phases for Blue Bell"s return include the Birmingham and Montgomery areas, as well as Brenham, Houston and Austin, Texas.
