On Tuesday it was announced that influential post-punk and New Wave group The Cure was embarking on a 27-date tour of the United States, with four dates in the state of Texas.
The Cure is slated to play Houston on May 14, though the venue has not yet been released. This is the bands longest tour jaunt since 2008, according to the bands official site.
According to fan blogs and databases, the band first played Houston on Nov. 4, 1984 at you guessed it Numbers in Montrose, where every other major band of the early 80s cut their teeth in the Bayou City.

The band played hits like Killing An Arab, Lets Go To Bed, A Forest, and The Hanging Garden at the venue in front of what was surely an immaculately dressed crowd of Robert Smith clones.
Ascending the ladder of rock fame The Cure would later play the Southern Star Amphitheatre, the Sam Houston Coliseum, The Summit, Cynthia Woods Mitchell Pavilion, and the Toyota Center.
The Cures last Houston show was at the Rockets arena on June 9, 2008.
Its likely a return to Houston would be at either the Woodlands venue or Toyota Center. The Rockets will hopefully be needing that court for the playoffs by May though.
Stay tuned, love cats.
