Michigan State Football: Spartans in the NFL Update 11/4

Starting this week, throughout the remainder of the NFL season, I will be posting updates on the Michigan State Spartans that are still playing professional football. Without further ado, here is the Michigan StateFootball Pro Update through Week 8 of the 2015 NFL season.

Bye Week: Kirk Cousins (WAS), Trent Robinson (WAS)

LeVeon Bell (Pittsburgh Steelers): LeVeon Bell had 10 carries for 45 yards before he went down with a gruesome knee injury. He was carted off and left the stadium and later it was announced that Bell tore his MCL and will have to miss the remainder of the 2015 season. Bell finishes his short 2015 with 511 yards and 3 touchdowns on 103 carries. He had startedall 6 gamessince returning from his 2 game suspension to start the 2015 season.

Max Bullough (Houston Texans): Bullough had a career high 8 tackles in the Texans victory over the Tennessee Titans Sunday. Max now has 13 tackles on the season, 10 of which have come in the past two games as his playing time has increased at the linebacker position.

Garrett Celek (San Francisco 49ers): Celek had zero catches and zero targets Sunday. On the season, Celek has been productive with 15 catches for 139 yards and a score, making him the second leading pass catcher on the San Francisco roster.

Kellen Davis (New York Jets): Davis had his first catch of the 2015 season, a one yard TD pass from Geno Smith in the Jets 34-20 loss to Oakland. Prior to this game, Kellen Davis had only been targeted 2 other times.

Darqueze Dennard (Cincinnati Bengals): No stats recorded Sunday in the Bengals win over Pittsburgh. On the year, Dennard has 15 tackles, 3 pass breakups and an interception playing defensive back on a defense that ranks 7th in the league in scoring.

Kurtis Drummond (Houston Texans): In his NFL debut after being promoted from the practice squad, Drummond had 2 tackles and forced a fumble as the Texans beat Tennessee.

Bennie Fowler (Denver Broncos): The rookie Fowler hauled in both passes thrown his way for 21 yards as the Broncos improved to 7-0 with a win over Green Bay. Bennie has caught all nine targets this season for 128 yards and you can expect his statistics to improve if Peyton Manning plays similar to the way he did Sunday night.

William Gholston (Tampa Bay Buccaneers): The Buccaneers got their 3rd win of the season Sunday defeating the Atlanta Falcons in overtime, and Gholston recorded 5 tackles starting at left defensive end. This was one tackle short of his season high, and on the season he has 22 tackles to go along with a kick block and a pass deflection.

Brian Hoyer (Houston Texans): The 7th year NFL Quarterback got his 12th win as a starter with a 20-6 win over the Titans. Hoyer was effective, going 23-35 for 235 yards and 2 touchdowns. Hoyer has started 4 games now for the Texans, and has been in a quarterback battle with Ryan Mallett throughout the season. The controversy mayhave started todie down as Hoyer has started the past3 weeks. He has now completed 59% of his passes this season for 1346 yards, 11 touchdowns and 3 interceptions.

Jeremy Langford (Chicago Bears): The Bears lost 23-20 and they also lost running back Matt Forte to a knee injury. This allowed the rookie Langford to record 12 carries for 46 yards, both career highs. In his rookie campaign, Langford has 27 carries for 80 yards and 2 touchdowns andalso has hauled in2passes for 31 yards. Matt Forte has no timetable for a return from injury, so expect Jeremy to have an increased impact in the Bears offense in the immediate future, as he is the new #1 running back.

Tony Lippett (Miami Dolphins): Tony appeared in his second game as a rookie but has recorded no stats.

Keshawn Martin (New England Patriots): Bothered by a hamstring injury, Martin did not play in Thursdays game for New England. On the season, Martin has 6 catches for 95 yards and a touchdown. Martins injury is day-to-day so there is a good chance he will be ready to play next weekend.

Keith Mumphery (Houston Texans): Keith was only targeted one time Sunday afternoon and he made the catch for 3 yards. The 5th round draft pick has hauled in 14 b***s for 129 yards in his rookie season.

Domata Peko (Cincinnati Bengals): Peko had two tackles Sunday, as the Bengals defense held the Steelers to 10 points to improve to 7-0 in 2015. The 10 year veteran has 16 tackles and a pass deflection this season while starting at defensive tackle.

Micajah Reynolds (Baltimore Ravens): Reynolds has no statistics this season up to this point.

Dion Sims (Miami Dolphins): Sims was targeted one time and got 6 yards in Thursday nights loss to New England. In his third NFL campaign, Sims has 6 catches for 36 yards and a touchdown, but is now fully recovered from an early season concussion that has limited him to playing in only four games so far.

Drew Stanton (Arizona Cardinals): Stanton, who has made a solid career as an NFL backup, is doing just that again this year in Arizona. He completed 1 of 4 passes for 10 yards against the Lions on October 11 but those were his only passing attempts so far in 2015.

Trae Waynes (Minnesota Vikings): No statistics were recorded for Waynesthis weekendin the Vikings win over Chicago. On the year, the cornerback has 10 tackles and a pass deflection as Minnesota has surprised many and gotten off to a 5-2 start this season.

1) Johnny Adams, in his first year for the Winnipeg Blue Bombers of the Canadian Football League, is tied for the leaguelead in interceptions so far with 6.

2) Greg Jones, a member of the Toronto Argonauts, is 4th in the CFL in tackles with 94.
