Mark Cuban does not care for interview etiquette

Hes a tough one to keep quiet.

MARK Cuban has never been one to watch what he says.

In fact, the Dallas Mavericks owner has racked up almost US$2 million in fines from the NBA since purchasing the Mavericks in 2000, largely for accusations and statements directed at the league and its officials.

But even outside the sporting body, Cuban has found himself the target of more financial punishment for his crude behaviour.

The 57-year-old businessman participated in a charity sporting event of a different kind over the weekend, challenging Intel CEO Brian Krzanich in the online strategy-battle game League of Legends.

The tournament was set up to raise money for the CyberSmile Foundation, which seeks to eradicate cyberbullying.

Cuban was set to take on Krzanich when he was interviewed by NBC host Kristine Leahy, and allegedly let a swear word slip on television in an attempt to trash-talk his rival.

After the pair did battle, a victorious Cuban was informed he would be forced to pay for his slip of the tongue.

Well your trash talking was so good you dropped an F-bomb before the game when I interviewed you, Leahy told Cuban.

And so Ive just been informed that youve actually been fined $15,000.

Its ok though because its going to a good cause, its going to CyberSmile.

Laughing off news of the fine, Cuban was then asked if he was apologetic for his crude remarks.

Do you take back the F-bomb or are you standing by it? Leahy said.

So if I say it again I have to pay another $15,000? Cuban responded.

Yeah do you want to up it to $30,000? the reporter asked.

Then in Mark Cubans typical nonchalant fashion, his response turned the night into an expensive one.

F*** it, he said.

With a net worth of US $3 billion, it is no surprise Cuban is happy to shell out $30,000 in the name of a good cause.

The Mavericks owner has developed a reputation as one of the most outspoken owners in the NBA, and is frequently cited for misdemeanours involving courtside officials and other franchises.

One of his largest financial penalties in recent memory came in 2014, when he was slapped with a $100,000 fine for approaching officials and swearing at them following his sides loss to the Los Angeles Clippers.

However to his credit, Cuban claims to match any fine imposed on him with a charitable donation, and allegedly did so after the refereeing incident in 2014.

The part-time film producer was also fined $25,000 in July this year after claiming the Clippers were not a respectable franchise in response to a failed attempt by the Mavericks to sign LA star centre DeAndre Jordan.
