GEORGETOWN Deputy Paul Osckel was on a relatively regular patrol when he spotted the car.
Something didnt seem right.
It was around 1:30 a.m. Thursday. The car was parked in a lot near the I-70 off ramp in Georgetown. Its lights were on.
Osckel radioed the license plate back to his command center and waited for a response as he approached the vehicle. He noticed a man and two little girls inside the car.

He spoke to the driver who seemed confused. He said he was just driving through and pulled over to sleep. When Osckel asked for his ID, he said he didnt have one.
Then the dispatcher radioed back into his earpiece.
"The first thing you hear is the double homicide warrant, officer safety BOLO, and then the Amber Alert with the parental kidnapping with two little children in the backseat - my first thought was that I need to get that male out of the car," Osckel told 9NEWS.
The suspect, Alex Perez, struggled when Osckel tried to pull him out of the car. He was later arrested and Michigan authorities charged him with two counts of first degree murder.
Perez is the girls father. He is accused of killing their mother and her father at a home in Southwest Michigan.
The two girls were taken into the custody of Clear Creek County Human Services.
Osckel, who recently became a father, said a little bit of those instincts kicked in in the moment.
"There"s no other love like a parent"s love and to see the situation those two girls were in was heartbreaking,"hesaid.
When asked if this made him feel like a hero, he said no. He just happened to be in the right place at the right time.
