Auburn/Cayuga County branch of NAACP announces Martin Luther King Jr ...

The Auburn/ Cayuga branch of the NAACP announced it will honor the 2016 recipients of the Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Millennium Award at an upcoming luncheon.

At the luncheon, from noon to 1:30 p.m., Friday, Jan. 22 at the Sunset Restaurant, 93 N. Division St., Auburn, recipients will receive the award that honors those who place a high priority on commitment to and delivery of community service.

This year marks the 17th year of the award. Honorees are Raymond Bizzari, director of community services at Cayuga County Community Mental Health Center; Dia Carabajal, newly elected Auburn city councilor and former member of the Auburn Enlarged City School District Board of Education; Camille Johnson, AECSD assistant superintendent of student services; and Jessica Rice, art teacher, Herman Avenue Elementary School.

Also honored at the luncheon will be Laurel Ullyette, the 2016 Auburn/Cayuga branch of the NAACP Hall of Fame inductee. Ullyette has previously been honored with the Harriet Tubman Humanitarian Achievement Award Jubilee, as well as the Cayuga County Chamber of Commerce Community Leadership Award and the Martin Luther King Millennium Award.
