This intense looking film is based on the novel by the same name written by Michael Punke in 2003. It focuses on frontiersman/fur trapper Hugh Glass who is betrayed by his crew and robbed and left for dead.
Glass miraculously survives and seeks revenge on his betrayors.
The film also stars Tom Hardy, and Will Polymer as members of Glass" crew.
I don"t want to jinx it, but it"s looking like this will be a heavy duty contender for the best male acting Oscar Leo has been chasing his whole career. The trailer alone has an outstanding soundtrack making the film look epic. Complementing the beautiful cinematogry that director Alejandro Gonzlez Irritu (Birdman, Babel) presents in the horse chases and showdowns.
This looks to be one of those very few films that can become a blockbuster hit while still being well received by the judges at the academy. It"ll definitely depend on the dialogue and conflict, and the performances of Dicaprio and Hardy but all things considered this is looking like a top tier film.
