Some of Sofia Vergara's other movie roles

Forget six degrees of separation.Sofia Vergara is practically a Pittsburgher, given her engagement to Mt. Lebanon native and actor Joe Manganiello and their attendance at the Jan. 3 Steelers-Ravens game at Heinz Field.

Best known for her role as Gloria Pritchett on ABCs Modern Family, the Colombian-born actress also has appeared on the big screen. Ms. Vergara is paired with Reese Witherspoon in the comedy Hot Pursuit opening today. If you want to track down some of her earlier movie work, look for:

Chef (2014): Jon Favreau wrote, directed, produced and stars as the title character in this flavorful, fresh film about a chef who happily lands in a food truck after an epic meltdown with his boss and a blogger. Mr. Favreau sprinkles his movie menu with name actors, including Sofia Vergara as his ex-wife in this celebration of food, fatherhood, love and creative freedom, all garnished with buoyant music.

Fading Gigolo (2014): John Turturro is a New Yorker who becomes an improbable but in-demand gigolo. Sharon Stone plays a wealthy dermatologist and Ms. Vergara is her adventuresome friend. In this modern meditation on intimacy, loneliness, oddball connections, sexuality and unconventional beauty, Ms. Vergara asks, Do you have any idea what goes on inside a womans head? A woman is meant to be looked at, or else she will just fade away.

Machete Kills (2013): Danny Trejo returns as ex-federal agent Machete, recruited by the president of the United States to take down a billionaire madman and arms dealer who plans to spread war and anarchy across the planet. Ms. Vergara is a deadly brothel madam in this movie with a comic book sensibility.

The Three Stooges (2012): In need of $830,000 to save their orphanage from foreclosure, the Stooges run into a femme fatale (Ms. Vergara, of course) who wants them to smother herdying husband. She stars alongside Sean Hayes as the adult Larry, Will Sasso as Curly and Chris Diamantopoulos as the grown-up Moe in this comedy from the Farrelly brothers.

The Smurfs (2011): The Smurfs take Manhattan in a movie that is part computer animation and part live action, which is where Neil Patrick Harris turns up as a marketing executive with a pregnant wife and a demanding boss (Ms. Vergara). Other cast members lent just their voices for this serviceable, fast-moving comedy.

New Years Eve (2011): Director Garry Marshall and writer Katherine Fugate, who collaborated on 2010s Valentines Day, reteamed on this rom-com light on rom and com. Its enormous, wasted ensemble includes Hilary Swank, Michelle Pfeiffer, Zac Efron, Katherine Heigl and, as part of a catering team waiting for the ball to drop in Times Square, Ms. Vergara.

Four Brothers (2005): John Singleton castMark Wahlberg, Tyrese Gibson, Andre Benjamin and Garrett Hedlund as four adopted brothers who reunite in Detroit to figure out who murdered their saintly mother and to deliver a little frontier justice.
