The three victims wounded in Thursday morning's Florida State Unviersity (FSU) shooting have been identified.
Police said that when university alumnus Myron May opened fire on campus at Strozier Library, he wounded 30-year-old Nathan Scott, 21-year old Farahan Ahmed, and 18-year old Elijah Velez, according to CBS Miami.Velez, who did not require hospitalization, was grazed by the bullet and treated on scene. Scott, a library employee, is listed in good condition at Tallahassee Memorial HealthCare (TMH) with a gunshot wound to the leg.
"Farhan Ahmed, 21, is in critical condition at TMH. His family has requested privacy at this time," details the Tallahassee Democrat.There were up to 400 students in the library, most preparing for final exams, at the time of the shooting. May, a 2005 FSU graduate who has worked a lawyer in Texas and New Mexico, was reportedly shot and killed outside the building by police after refusing to drop his weapon.
"He refused to surrender, as a result of this encounter, Mr. May was shot and killed by police officers, said Tallahassee Police Chief Michael DeLeo, reports CBS Miami.
As a result, Thursday classes and exams were cancelled and the library temporarily closed, but reopened on Friday when classes resumed.
It has been revealed that prior to the shooting, May sent packages to several acquaintances which were arrive at their destinations on Friday.
