CLEVELAND, Ohio In case you didn't think "Sons of Anarchy" could get any stranger during Season 7, Sunday night's episode offered up one of the more random opening sequences you will ever see on TV.
Episode 10, titled "Faith and Despondency," begins with a s*x montage that features, among other things, Jax having s*x with the prostitute he rescued earlier this season, Gemma and Nero having extremely boring s*x, Tig hooking up with Venus Van Dam and Juice being raped in prison by a Neo-n**i leader played by Marilyn Manson.
What does it all mean? Well, other than the fact Juice's life pretty much sucks, not much at first, other than shock value.
Moving on, Nero and Jax continue their discussion about Nero selling his half of the prostitution business to Alvarez. Jax doesn't like the idea of losing his partner (and father figure), but he understands Nero's desire to move on from the madness.
Meanwhile, SAMCRO member Rat Boy is taking on a bigger role, which can't bode well for his future. Jax sends Rat off to meet with Grim Bastards Motorcycle Club leader T.O. to talk about the two clubs' alignment against Marks.
Back on the romantic front, the relationship between Venus Van Dam and Tig is heating up. Tig has been rather absent this season. So perhaps giving him a storyline where he dates a transsexual prostitute makes sense.
In terms of family matters, the drama with Abel continues. Jax's son is sporting a cut on his face and insists his little brother Tommy did it. That's highly unlikely unless his little brother is actually Chucky from "Child's Play." But Abel has other motives that will soon surface.
A more immediate concern for Jax is Marks' ruthless lieutenant Moses, who seems intent on getting his boss out of prison. Moses orders Niners leader Laroy to help him confront T.O. and the Grim Bastards.
Moses discovers Rat with T.O. together and takes both of them hostage. Moses questions Rat and T.O. about the pastor's wife, before having them both brutally beaten.
Next up, Jax, Happy, Tig and Chibs meet with members of the Neo-n**i crew to secure alliances. But things don't quite go as planned when one of them mocks Tig for hooking up with Venus Van Dam.
Jax and company kill a few of the group's members, but not before finding out that Neo-n**i member Leland plans to kill Officer Candy, the cop Leland wounded earlier in the season. Jax alerts Unser, who ambushes and kills Leland at the hospital.
Jax makes sure things are secure at the hospital before heading to Abel's school. There, a representative from Child Services questions Jax and Gemma about cuts on Abel's arm.
Abel cut himself with a fork. But he lies and tells everyone that Gemma did it. Apparently, this kid has a plan to get his grandmother back for killing his mother.
Jax hops into daddy mode. He insists Abel see a shrink and decides to move both of his kids and Wendy in with him.
While Jax plays daddy, Rat or T.O. may be next on the chopping block. Moses threatens to take out someone's eye, which leads T.O. (getting a subtle nod from Laroy) to spill the beans on where the preacher's family is being held.
Moses heads for the cabin, which proves to be a major mistake. Laroy takes out Moses man back at the safe house, while SAMCRO ambushes Moses and his men at the cabin. Jax rips Moses' eye out (props to the special effects department) and has Chibs chop off his fingers. Then, Jax puts a bullet in Moses' head.
Turns out T.O. and Rat being captured was all part of Jax's plan. Jax was also doing the Neo-n**i crew a favor by taking out its rogue member Leland. It's one of the few times Jax's plan seems to have paid off in full.
The episode closes out by wrapping up the s*x sequence from earlier on. Chibs and the sheriff get into a huge fight about their future (or lack thereof), before having intense makeup s*x.
Venus Van Dam, driven by a great performance from Walton Goggins, confesses to Tig that she is in love with him. Tig, played with raw emotion by Kim Coates, reassures Van Dam that the feeling is sort of mutual. It's actually one of the most touching moments of the season.
Gemma is rocked by the situation involving Abel (and the fact that she murdered her daughter-in-law last season). "I don't know who I am anymore," she tells Nero, before he replies "You're my girl."
The final scene involves Jax finally telling Abel that Wendy is his mother. Jax recounts his entire relationship history to his son. Hey, as long as we're all clear on whose tummy the spawn of SAMCRO came out of.
Not to be outdone, Abel hits Jax with his own bombshell by asking why his grandmother killed his "second mommy," aka Tara. What's your move now, Jax?
