Shortly before a college football player was shot and killed by an Arlington police officer early Friday, surveillance video shows him exhibiting what appears to be odd, erratic behavior.

Christian Taylor, 19, is seen wandering around the lot, trying to open locked cars, kicking out the front windshield of a car, driving through the locked front gate and then driving his SUV into the front of the showroom.

Stealth Monitoring let News 8 review the video. The Addison-based company monitors the surveillance cameras at Classic Buick GMC, located on Interstate 20 near Collins Street.

Taylor was an Arlington native. He was a student at Angelo State University in West Texas.

He was shot and killed early Friday when police responded to a burglary call. Brad Miller, the rookie officer who shot him, has been put on administrative leave as is routine procedure in such cases.

Police have said Taylor was unarmed at the time of the shooting but have given few details about what happened in the confrontation with police. They say that Miller and his training officer were the only ones to engage Taylor. The other officers were outside and had set up a perimeter around the showroom.

Arlington Police chief Will Johnson said Taylor was "not compliant" with officers.

The monitoring company and police say there are no surveillance cameras inside the showroom, only those outside on the lot. The company showed News 8 the video because of conspiracy theories that have been appearing online.

The video shows Taylor pulling up to the locked gate of the dealership in a gray SUV about 12:52 a.m.

"The security company reported a possible burglary and reported a suspect was damaging a car in the parking lot," Arlington Police chief Will Johnson said. That suspect was determined on video to be Christian Taylor.

Taylor, who is wearing shades, gets out of the car, climbs over the gate and then sits on top of it for just a moment before walking onto the lot.

Taylor walks up a red SUV and tries the door. He"s then seen running and walking through the lot.

At 1:02 a.m., he walks up to a silver truck and again tries to open the door. Afterward, he goes over to a silver Mustang. He initially tries to break the driver"s side door with his fist but doesn"t succeed.

Taylor climbs on top of the car. He stomps on the windshield. He then kicks in the windshield. Taylor pulls out a portion of the glass, appearing to cut his hand.

By now, the monitoring company has called the police and speakers are blaring, "warning, warning."

The video shows him continuing to stomp on the windshield. He sits on top of the hood and then jumps on the hood and windshield.

At 1:07 a.m., he pulls up the windshield, yanks out the rearview mirror and tosses it aside. He climbs backward in through the broken window and gets in the car. He stays only briefly before getting out and walking away.

Taylor trips over a curb and then walks toward the showroom.

At 1:11 a.m., Taylor walks back to his SUV. At 1:13 a.m., he drives through the locked gate and crashes into the front of the showroom.

Police arrive at 1:16 a.m. The first officer walks up, followed by other officers. Johnson said officers believed a felony burglary was in progress.

"As officers stood outside the building, they made verbal contact with Mr. Taylor, instructing him to lie on the ground," Johnson said. "He was not compliant and he fled to the southwest portion of the building, where officers observed him trying to force his way through a locked glass door."

What happened inside the showroom isn"t visible from those cameras.

At 1:30 a.m., an ambulance pulls in front of the showroom.

The medical examiner has said Taylor died gunshot wounds to the neck, chest and abdomen.
