Greenville singer Benton Blounts heartfelt performance of A Great Big Worlds song Say Something reaped praise from judges on NBCs Americas Got Talent Tuesday.
Blount, who survived the judges final cuts round two weeks ago, earned raves from all four judges, as well as host Nick Cannon.
I hear your heart when you sing, judge Heidi Klum told Blount, while Howie Mandel said there was a feeling in the room as Blount sang. You brought it.
Before he took the stage, Blount and his wife Ashley and 1-year-old son Jaxon were shown in a video package shot largely at their home in Greenville. They sat in the audience for Tuesdays live competition at Radio City Music Hall in New York City, and Blount told Cannon he was thinking of them as he sang.
Earlier in the episode, Cannon teased Blounts upcoming appearance by talking about the singers two goals of making music and supporting his family.
The evening featured 12 acts; fan votes will help narrow the field to seven finalists, one of whom will take home a grand prize of $1 million.
Voting will be open until noon Wednesday, and fans can cast their votes at the NBC website, www.nbc.com, or by downloading an app from NBCs site. Viewers are allowed 10 votes per act.
The results show airs at 8 p.m.Wednesday.
