GAME NOTES
There's an 85 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms at 2 p.m. today. The gloomy skies aren't expected to clear up until midnight.
First pitch today is scheduled for 1:08 p.m. The game will be televised on FOX Sports Detroit and the radio will be be broadcast on 97.1 The Ticket.
Shane Greene will make his Tigers debut and will try to help the Tigers become the first team since1963 to begin a season with three straight shutouts.
Detroit won 4-0 in Monday's season opener and followed with a 11-0 victory Wednesday. It marked the second straight shutout for the Tigers, who became the fifth American League team since 1920 to start season with back-to-back shutouts.
The 18 scoreless innings is Detroit's longest streak to open a season since at least 1912. It marked the first time in franchise history the Tigers have started the season with two straight shutouts. They haven't recorded three straight shutouts in one season since 1949.
Traffic alert: The gravel surface parking lots north of the I-75 Service Drive and west of Woodward Avenue will no longer be available due to site preparation for the new Detroit Events Center, future home of the Detroit Red Wings.
As part of the M-1 Rail project, Woodward Avenue will be restricted to one lane north, one lane south, and a turn lane from Adams to Grand Blvd.
TRACKING THE TIGERS
It's a perfect day for a baseball game. Minus the damp conditions, gloomy skies and rain-threatening forecast. Just perfect! #sarcasm
Similar to the weather conditions at Comerica Park on Wednesday, there's a chance today's game could be delayed due at some point due to impending rain.
The forecast calls for heavy rain and thunderstorms to arrive at 1:45 p.m. and it's expected to last until midnight. Unless the Tigers are able to squeeze in five innings in less than an hour, I suspect today's game will be postponed.
As I alluded to Wednesday, if the game is postponed, a makeup game could be scheduled May 11 -- a mutual off day for both teams. The Twins are scheduled to return to Detroit for a three-game series May 12-14.
It's possible a potential makeup game could be played as part of a day-night doubleheader May 12. The first game of the series is scheduled for 7:08 p.m.
What do you think? The game should start on time as scheduled, but will we get an entire game in today?
