David Price signs with Red Sox

There will be no Joe Maddon and David Price reunion in Chicago.

The dominating free-agent pitcher agreed to terms with the Boston Red Sox Tuesday on aseven-year, $217 million deal, according to the Boston Globe.

The 30-year-old lefty was considered one of the top free-agent pitchers on the market, along with Los Angeles Zack Greinke.

At one time, the Cubs were believed to be the favorites to land Price because of his connection with Maddon, who was Prices manager during his time in Tampa Bay.

But recent reports indicated the Cubs may not have had the budget to land Price or any of the top free agents for that matter.

Price posted a 2.45 ERA with Detroit and Toronto last year. Hes 104-56 with a 3.09 ERA in eight major-league seasons.
