With so much attention paid to Kevin Garnett this week and his illustrious NBA career, it's awesome to see how he started it in high school.
The 15-time NBA all-star was born in South Carolina, attended Mauldin (S.C.) for three years and then moved to Illinois, where he earned Mr. Basketball honors for his one season at Farragut (Chicago).
That season, Garnett led Farragut to a 28-2 record and averaged 25.2 points, 17.9 rebounds, 6.7 assists and 6.5 blocks a game. In his four-year prep career, he piled up 2,553 points, 1,809 rebounds and 737 blocks.
He was named the Outstanding Player of the McDonald's All-American Game and shortly after declared for the NBA Draft. He was the fifth pick of the 1995 draft by the Minnesota Timberwolves, a place he returned on Thursday via trade.
The 2004 NBA MVP left Minnesota in 2007, won an NBA title with the Boston Celtics during seven seasons before moving to the Nets, who Thursday traded him back to Minnesota in order for him to finish out his career.
